Clear Blue Design provides Tag Check and is responsible for the information practices described here. This policy explains how we handle information when you visit our website, use AI to research secondhand items, purchase checks, and keep a private collection of finds. Contact hello@clearbluedesign.com with privacy questions or requests. This policy is an explanation of our practices, not a waiver of your privacy rights or blanket consent to new uses of information.
Information we collect
- Account information. Your email address, account identifier, authentication records, and profile information shared by a sign-in provider you choose. We use it to sign you in, secure the account, and associate finds and check balances with you.
- Photos and item information. Photos you select or take, descriptions, notes, answers, tag prices, saved items, favorites, and generated results. Photos are resized and re-encoded before upload to reduce file size and remove embedded metadata. This does not remove personal information visible in the image. Avoid photographing people, addresses, documents, payment details, or other personal or confidential material that is unnecessary for checking an item.
- Purchases and check usage. Store transaction and order identifiers, purchase verification information, status, amounts and currency, account tokens, credit balances, and check-use records. Apple or Google handles payment details; Tag Check does not collect your card or bank information. Google purchase tokens are kept privately for delivery and reconciliation.
- App diagnostics. Screen visits and navigation, selected controls and filter categories, form-use milestones and validation outcomes, retries and cancellations, bounded page positions, app and device information, session and interaction identifiers, timing, crashes, and performance measurements. App analytics and crash reports may be associated with your Tag Check account identifier; they are not described as anonymous. Product analytics exclude uploaded photos, form contents, email addresses, search text, free-form notes and answers, generated appraisal text, passwords, authentication tokens, purchase receipts, and source URLs. We do not record your screen, keystrokes, or raw touch coordinates. Providers can also process connection and technical information, such as IP addresses, for delivery, security, and diagnostics; an IP address can indicate approximate location.
- Support correspondence. If you contact us, we receive your address and what you choose to include. Do not send passwords, authentication tokens, or payment-card details. We use correspondence to investigate and respond to the request and maintain necessary support records.
Why and how we use information
We use information to provide authentication, store your collection, process the analysis you request, deliver and reconcile purchases, maintain balances, prevent abuse, fix failures, respond to support and rights requests, and meet legal obligations. We use app diagnostics to understand feature usage and improve performance and reliability, rather than to advertise to you. We do not use your item results to make decisions about eligibility for credit, employment, insurance, housing, or other similarly significant services.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, our processing relies on performing the service you request, applicable legal obligations, legitimate interests in security and service operation where permitted and balanced against your rights, and consent where obtained and required. A contractual description of a feature does not override a legal requirement for consent. We do not rely on acceptance of our Terms of Service as consent to unrelated advertising, sensitive-data processing, or a new AI purpose.
Supabase manages account authentication. You can use email and password, or the Google or Apple sign-in options available on your device. A sign-in provider shares the information needed to identify your account, such as a provider identifier, email address, and profile information you authorize. Tag Check does not receive your Google or Apple password.
AI analysis and generated information
To suggest an identification and estimate an item’s value, we send the photos, notes, answers, and other item information you submit to OpenAI. Its service analyzes the images and performs live web searches for comparable evidence. Follow-up processing may include the existing item description and prior generated results. Tag Check disables storage of retrievable API responses, but this does not eliminate processing or any abuse-monitoring or security retention that applies under the provider’s policies. This setting is not a promise of zero retention or an opt-out from all provider processing.
Taking or selecting photos for a new item stays local until you submit the batch with Analyze. Submitting the item requests the AI analysis described here; you can cancel before submitting. The same item's later notes, answers, and added photos are used to refine its analysis. Do not submit information you do not want processed for that purpose. Once a request has been sent, canceling or deleting an item cannot undo processing already performed; the deletion limits below apply.
AI may infer an item identity, characteristics, condition, or estimated value from the content you provide. These inferences can be inaccurate and are not verified facts about an item or a person. You can supply additional information to refine an item, remove it, or contact us about personal information that needs correction. We do not promise that an AI result can be made correct simply by requesting a revision.
Diagnostics and device permissions
App diagnostics use Google Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, and Performance Monitoring through Tag Check's own telemetry service. Remote diagnostics are enabled in release builds on physical devices. We export analytics events to Google BigQuery to study navigation paths, form completion, feature use, and reliability over time. These events can be linked to your Tag Check account identifier. Advertising identifier collection and advertising personalization are disabled; analytics are used to improve the app, not to advertise to you. Diagnostic and exported records follow their applicable retention and deletion schedules, separately from your saved finds.
We also keep content-free AI operational records, such as provider request identifiers, model usage, timing, status, and estimated processing costs. "Content-free" means those operational records omit submitted photos and text; identifiers can still link them to an account.
The app does not show advertisements, sell your personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or request contacts or precise device location. Android advertising-ID permission is explicitly removed. Camera and photo-library access lets you choose the images to submit; we do not publish your collection as a public feed. The app stores your display-mode preference on your device. Manage camera and photo permissions in your device settings. Declining or revoking access may affect the relevant photo feature without requiring you to grant unrelated permissions.
Service providers and other disclosures
We provide the information needed for the relevant function to these providers:
- Supabase: account authentication, database operations, and private photo storage. See the Supabase Privacy Policy.
- OpenAI: processing item photos and information, generating results, and researching comparable items through web search. See the OpenAI Privacy Policy.
- Google Firebase and Google Cloud: app analytics, crash reporting, performance monitoring, analytics event export and analysis in BigQuery, and website hosting. See Firebase privacy and security information.
- Apple and Google: sign-in where offered, app distribution, native payments, verification, and refunds. Their services are governed by the Apple Privacy Policy and Google Privacy Policy.
Authorized support and operations personnel may access information as needed to provide support, investigate abuse or failures, and operate the service. We may disclose relevant information to comply with law or a valid legal request, protect rights and safety, investigate fraud, or establish, exercise, or defend legal claims, subject to applicable law. These purposes do not authorize unrestricted retention or use of all account content. If ownership changes, relevant information may transfer to a successor subject to applicable privacy obligations, required notice, and any required consent for a changed purpose.
Providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate, which may have different data-protection rules. Their roles and retention depend on the relevant service agreements, processing terms, and legal obligations. Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers, those requirements apply; contact us for information relevant to your data. Linking to a provider policy does not transfer away our responsibility for processing for which we are legally responsible.
This website and external links
This marketing website does not run analytics, advertising pixels, tracking cookies, forms, or embedded third-party widgets. Images and fonts are hosted with the site. Firebase Hosting processes ordinary connection information, including IP addresses and requested pages, to deliver and protect the website. Email links open your email application, whose provider handles that communication. Store download links take you to Apple or Google.
A source citation, store page, sign-in service, or other external destination can collect connection and browsing information under its own practices when you open it. Tag Check's app analytics records the category of link opened, not the destination URL. A link does not mean we control or verify the destination's content or practices.
Retention and deletion
We keep account information and saved finds while you maintain your account and they are needed to provide the service. You can delete an item or photo in the app. Choose Settings → Delete Account and confirm to remove your authentication account, saved finds, notes, uploaded photos, and account-linked AI operational records from the active service. If you cannot access the app, email hello@clearbluedesign.com. We may request only the information reasonably needed to verify your authority over the account. Account deletion is permanent and removes access to unused checks; it does not itself request a store refund.
Purchase, refund, and credit-ledger records remain after account deletion with their authentication-account link removed, for accounting, purchase reconciliation, refund handling, and preventing reuse of a transaction. Store identifiers can remain identifiable to a store or through other records; removing the account link does not guarantee anonymity. We keep these records only as long as needed for those purposes, applicable accounting and legal obligations, and relevant dispute periods.
Content-free AI usage records may remain after individual item deletion, but are removed with the account. Backups, security logs, and diagnostic systems can retain information under their applicable retention and deletion schedules. Active-service deletion does not imply immediate removal from every backup, diagnostic system, or provider record, or withdrawal of a request already processed. Support records are kept as needed to resolve the matter and meet relevant legal obligations. If preservation of particular records is legally required or necessary for a specific claim, we limit retention to that purpose and applicable period.
Retention depends on the information's purpose, whether you still use the account, legal requirements, security needs, and unresolved transactions or disputes. We do not promise a fixed universal deletion deadline or zero provider retention. Contact us for help with a deletion request or the records that remain, and we will respond within applicable legal time limits.
Your choices and rights
You can choose among available sign-in methods, control device permissions, decline to submit content for AI processing, and delete saved content or your account. Deleting the installed app alone does not delete the account or cloud records. Disconnecting a sign-in provider does not necessarily delete the Tag Check account; use the account-deletion process above.
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to know about processing, access or receive a copy of personal information, request correction or deletion, object to or restrict processing, withdraw consent for processing that relies on it, or appeal a denied request. Withdrawal does not reverse prior lawful processing. We do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising as described above. We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right, although removing information needed for a feature can prevent that feature from operating.
Contact hello@clearbluedesign.com to exercise a right or ask about available controls. We may verify identity or an authorized representative's authority in a proportionate way. If we cannot fulfill a request, we will explain as required by law, including available review or appeal routes. You may complain to your local data-protection authority or other competent regulator. Nothing in this policy or the Terms of Service restricts those rights or permits processing prohibited by applicable law.
Children's privacy
Tag Check is a general-audience shopping tool, not directed to children under 13 or any higher minimum age required by applicable law. We do not knowingly collect their personal information. A minor permitted to use the service needs the involvement of a parent or guardian as described in the Terms of Service. If you believe a child has provided personal information contrary to these requirements, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate steps to remove it.
Security
We use access controls, private photo storage, and encrypted connections. The authenticated service restricts access to saved finds. These measures are not a promise of absolute security or immunity from unauthorized access. Protect your credentials and tell us if you suspect misuse. We will meet applicable incident-response and notification obligations; this security statement does not waive them.
Changes and contact
The effective date at the top identifies this version. We may update this policy as features and practices evolve, with appropriate notice of material changes and additional consent where required. We do not treat a silently edited page as permission to retroactively expand how previously collected information is used or shared. Automated website updates do not replace required notice or consent.
