What can I check?
Anything you can photograph on the secondhand circuit: furniture, ceramics, glass, tools, vintage clothing, electronics, toys, art, the mystery box under the table. Clear shots of the whole item plus any markings work best. Some things just don’t have enough comparable evidence for a useful estimate, and Tag Check will say so rather than guess.
Does it work if there’s no price tag?
Yes. You still get the identification and the estimate. For an underpriced, fair, or overpriced verdict, Tag Check needs a price to compare: it reads the tag when one is in the photo, or asks what they’re asking. No price? Tap “No price shown” and move on.
Where do the estimates come from?
AI image analysis plus a live online search for comparable items, run fresh for every check. It prefers recent sold or completed listings over asking prices and won’t return a number without a usable source. It can’t verify that a source is accurate or describes an identical item, so treat the range as a well-researched starting point. Your tag price never nudges the estimate; it’s only compared against it.
Do follow-ups or extra photos use more checks?
No. One check covers one item: follow-up answers, notes, added photos, and technical retries are all included. A different item uses a new check. Deleting an item doesn’t refund its check.
What happens when I’m out of checks?
Keep snapping. You can still photograph and keep an item; its identification stays locked until you apply a check, either tomorrow’s free one or one from a pack. Nothing you captured is lost.
Do I need an account or an internet connection?
Yes to both. Your account keeps your finds and check balance together, and the internet does the identifying, researching, and syncing. Sign in with email, Google, or Apple, whichever your phone offers. Facebook sign-in is also available.
Are my photos and finds private?
Yes. Your collection is private to your account and never published. Photos and item details are processed by our cloud and AI providers to deliver the result. The app uses account-linked analytics for navigation and reliability, plus crash and performance diagnostics; analytics never include your photos, notes, search text, or form contents. Flag inappropriate AI output from the item’s menu with Report Generated Content. Deleting your account removes your saved content; deidentified AI usage and cost records remain.
